Packing is where most moving damage starts or is prevented. A box that is too heavy, too loose or the wrong size for its contents is the box that fails in the truck. Our crews pack every day, with professional cartons, paper and pads, and they pack to the standard an interstate shipment needs, because many of the boxes we pack ride across the country in the Bekins network.

Ways we can pack for you

Pick the level that fits your time and budget. A full pack means our crew packs everything, from the kitchen to the garage, usually the day before the truck is loaded. A partial pack covers the rooms you choose, often the kitchen, the dishes and the pictures. Box packing only means we pack, with or without a move after it, which suits people who are staging a home for sale or putting a household into storage.

If you have collected boxes of your own, our crew can pack into them, as long as they are sturdy enough to stack. Your estimator talks through each option at the in-home visit and lists your choice on the written estimate.

What careful packing looks like

Customers describe it in their reviews better than we can: furniture wrapped and padded, protective coverings on almost everything, and crews who "treated it like it was their own." Dishes are wrapped one by one and stood on edge in dish-pack cartons. Mirrors and framed art go into picture cartons. Mattresses get bags. Every box is labeled with the room it goes to, so the crew at the other end puts it where you want it.

Specialty items and crating

Some pieces need more than a box. We build custom crates for glass, art, antiques and machinery, and we move pianos and organs, pool tables, hot tubs and appliances with the equipment each one needs. See custom crating and specialty moving.

Packing for storage or a long-distance move

Goods headed for our Sparks vaults, or onto a Bekins van for a long-distance move, are packed to travel and stack. Heavy items go in small cartons, light items in large ones, and nothing rattles. Before packing on a long-distance move the crew makes an itemized inventory of your goods and their condition, which you sign and keep.
