Packing services in Truckee

Truckee, California, has about 17,000 residents and 6,900 households, and about 73 percent of homes are owner-occupied. Of roughly 14,000 homes, about 7,100 have three bedrooms and about 3,500 have four or more.

The mountain-house pack

A Truckee house usually has things most houses do not: ski racks and boots, snowshoes, bikes, wood-stove tools, extra coats, and sometimes a second set of everything. These are awkward shapes, and they go in their own cartons, bags or wraps. The crew groups sports gear by owner and labels it by room.

Closing a second home

The I-80 run

Truckee is about 36 miles and 48 minutes from the Sparks warehouse on I-80. The mountain pass can close in winter storms, and the National Weather Service forecast office in Reno posts conditions. Packing days are set with the forecast in mind.

Packing supplies
