Yuba City to Reno is about 127 road miles, roughly 2 hours 46 minutes of free-flow driving, using CA 20 for 64 miles and I-80 for 58, with Donner Summit at about 7,200 feet. It is one of the shorter routes into Reno from California.
Yuba City and Marysville sit side by side on the Feather River, 55 feet above sea level, and the Yuba City metro has about 182,000 residents. Reno is closer to them than to almost any other California metro that O'Brien's lists.

CA 20 through the gold country
The route block shows 64 miles of CA 20 and 58 miles of I-80. The truck takes CA 20 east from the valley through Grass Valley and Nevada City, then joins I-80 near Yuba Gap for the last climb. The road distance of 127 miles compares with 104 in a straight line.
CA 20 is a winding foothill highway, and the 2 hours 46 minutes of free-flow driving is for a car. A household truck runs more slowly in the hills. Your written estimate sets the delivery window.
Winter and the summit
Donner Summit at about 7,200 feet is the one named pass, and CA 20 itself climbs above 5,000 feet in snow country. Chain controls appear on both roads in storms. Check Caltrans QuickMap for California and NDOT for Nevada, and read moving in winter in the Sierra.
Yuba City and Reno compared
Yuba City has about 69,000 residents, a median household income near $75,477, a median gross rent near $1,454 and a median home value near $434,600 in the American Community Survey. Reno city's medians are $80,760, $1,556 and $548,300.
Marysville's July high averages about 96 and its January low about 38. Reno's July high is 94, but the January low is 26 and snowfall averages 21 inches a year. The Census shows few moves between Sutter and Yuba counties and Washoe County, with margins larger than the estimates, so the data say only that people move both ways.

How O'Brien's coordinates the move
You book with O'Brien's, and we coordinate the move from your Yuba or Sutter County home through the Bekins network. After arrival, O'Brien's handles delivery, unpacking and storage in Sparks.
Because the distance is short, many households combine pieces: furniture on the truck, personal items in the family car. Ask the estimator how that affects weight.
How a long-distance move works with a Bekins agent
O'Brien's Moving & Storage has been an agent for Bekins Van Lines since 1955. On an interstate move the Bekins network carries your shipment under the van line's interstate system; O'Brien's books the move in either direction. Leaving Northern Nevada, we give the free in-home estimate, pack, store in our Sparks warehouse if you need it, and load. Moving here from another state, you book with us and we coordinate the move from your origin through the Bekins network, then handle delivery, unpacking and storage in Sparks. Your written estimate sets the delivery window. What being a Bekins agent means.

We were referred to O'Brien's Moving and Storage though a friend in Reno. We couldn't be more pleased with the Professionalism and Service. They were quick to set up Luke to come out and give us a quote and scheduled the actual move date right away. Luke was on time for our quote as were the movers on our moving day. All three of the gentlemen who moved us were professional and courteous from start to finish. From the initial phone call to the completion of our move, we felt like we were treated as family. We would definitely use them again and recommend O'Brien's Moving and Storage to our friends in the future.

Francie, Thank you for this amazing review. The result you have expressed is exactly what we all strive to accomplish. I love that you walked away knowing you are now a part of the O'Brien's family, whenever you need us we are a phone call away! I will let the movers know about the kind words expressed about them, that will be very satisfying for all of them. We will look forward to any referrals you send our way, thank you for the opportunity!
