Moving from Prescott to Reno
Prescott to Reno is about 676 miles, a 13 h 12 min free-flow drive on AZ 89, I-40, US 93 and US 95. Prescott sits at about 5,300 feet, higher than Reno, and has about 47,400 people in the city and 245,480 in the Prescott Valley-Prescott metro area.
Census counts put the flow from Yavapai County to Washoe County at about 91 people a year (2016-2020), against about 13 going the other way, which is a strong lean toward Reno for a small origin. Arizona as a whole sent about 5,504 people to Nevada in 2024.
The drive: AZ 89, I-40, US 93 and US 95
The routing uses AZ 89 for about 46 miles to get the truck off the Prescott plateau, then I-40 for about 96 miles west, US 93 for about 68 miles north, and US 95 for about 272 miles through central Nevada. The total is about 676 miles.
Prescott starts at about 5,300 feet, so winter snow is possible at the very start of the trip as well as at the Nevada end, and a cold-weather departure should check conditions at both ends.
At 500 miles a day the map says two days behind the wheel, with a free-flow time of 13 h 12 min. A loaded truck has loading time and a scheduled Sparks arrival, so your written estimate sets the delivery window. Arizona 511 covers the Prescott end, and the Nevada 511 site covers the long run north.
The route never touches the Sierra, so the Donner and Echo summit chain controls are not part of the trip.

Prescott and Reno side by side
Prescott averages a January high of 53.3 F and a low of 26.2 F, and Reno averages 47.7 F and 26.1 F. Summer highs are 90.3 F in Prescott and 93.9 F in Reno, so the two feel closer than most Arizona towns do. Prescott averages about 12.9 inches of precipitation a year and Reno about 7.4.
The table above uses Census figures for the Prescott Valley-Prescott metro area, with median gross rent of $1,351, a median home value of $425,200 and 24.9 percent of households renting. Reno-Sparks has a median gross rent of $1,592 and a median home value of $502,300. Arizona taxes wages and Nevada does not.

How a long-distance move works with a Bekins agent
O'Brien's Moving & Storage has been an agent for Bekins Van Lines since 1955. On an interstate move the Bekins network carries your shipment under the van line's interstate system; O'Brien's books the move in either direction. Leaving Northern Nevada, we give the free in-home estimate, pack, store in our Sparks warehouse if you need it, and load. Moving here from another state, you book with us and we coordinate the move from your origin through the Bekins network, then handle delivery, unpacking and storage in Sparks. Your written estimate sets the delivery window. What being a Bekins agent means.

Extremely happy with the moving experience. The moving team showed up on time, friendly and polite. They did a wonderful job moving our boxes and furniture to the new location. We moved a three bedroom home and I could not be more pleased with the employees who assisted with the move. Highly recommend O'Brien moving for your move.

Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!!
