What the Ohio BMV and tax rules say
Ohio law requires a vehicle owner to register in the state within 30 days of becoming a resident, and the BMV says a new resident should transfer license, title and registration in that time. Those are Ohio's rules for people arriving. Leaving, keep your Ohio license valid until Nevada issues one.

For tax years beginning in 2026, Ohio computes nonbusiness income tax as $332 plus 2.75 percent of the amount over $26,050, which makes the rate effectively flat. The state sales and use tax is 5.75 percent, with county and transit add-ons. Nevada has no state personal income tax.
