Moving from Reno to Las Vegas
Reno to Las Vegas is about 420 road miles, roughly 8 hours 20 minutes of free-flow driving, almost all of it on US 95. O'Brien's moves it under its own Nevada authority (CPCN 1070) from the Sparks warehouse.

Reno to Las Vegas is the Nevada move: two ends of one state, with no new-resident deadlines and no change in state income tax. What changes is the desert. Southern Nevada is hot, dry and nearly snow-free, and the Census figures show a market with lower home values than the Truckee Meadows. A move within Nevada
O'Brien's is approved for moves within Nevada under Nevada Transportation Authority certificate CPCN 1070 and an NTA-approved tariff. Because your household stays in Nevada, the 30-day new-resident clock in NRS 482.385 and NRS 483.245 does not start over; you remain in the same state DMV system.
Nevada collects no individual income tax and applies a statewide minimum sales tax of 6.85 percent, with counties adding their own portion. A move from Washoe County to Clark County keeps the first fact and may change the second.
The desert climate in NOAA numbers
NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for the Las Vegas air terminal station show a January high of 58.0 degrees with a low of 39.4, and a July high of 103.8 with a low of 79.8. Annual precipitation is 3.99 inches, and the normals list no snow figure.
Heat shapes the move itself. Wax candles, vinyl records and houseplants do not travel well in a hot trailer, so ask the estimator about packing choices for them.
Housing and flows between the two counties
The ACS lists the city of Las Vegas at 660,400 residents, a median gross rent of $1,563, a median home value of $427,900 and 43.4 percent renters. Median home value in the city of Reno is $548,300 in the same survey, which is part of why Census county flows show about 4,392 people a year moving into Washoe County from Clark and about 1,887 moving the other way (2016-2020 average, with margins of error).
