Redding to Reno is about 198 road miles, roughly 4 hours 5 minutes of free-flow driving, using CA 44 for 105 miles and US 395 for 64, and the route data list no named mountain pass. Redding's metro has about 182,000 residents.
Redding is 530 feet above sea level at the north end of the Sacramento Valley, and its road to Reno does not use I-80. The truck heads east into the Cascades and the high desert instead.
CA 44, CA 36 and US 395
The route block shows 105 miles of CA 44, 10 miles of CA 36, 64 miles of US 395 and 17 miles of I-580. The truck leaves Redding toward Lassen County, comes onto US 395 near Susanville and follows it south along the Nevada border to Reno. The road distance is 198 miles against 155 in a straight line.
There is no Sierra summit on the way, so no pass is listed, but the road climbs and runs through rural country in Shasta and Lassen counties, where elevations are above 4,000 feet and winter storms can close CA 44 and CA 36 temporarily.

Rural roads in winter
Redding records about 34 inches of precipitation and nearly 3 inches of snow at the airport, but the highlands to the east get far more. Check Caltrans QuickMap for California chain controls, and NDOT once the truck enters Nevada. Allow extra time between November and March.
Redding city has about 93,000 residents, a median household income near $70,466, a median gross rent near $1,379 and a median home value near $382,300 in the American Community Survey. Reno city's medians are $80,760, $1,556 and $548,300. Housing is higher in Reno, so many Redding households downsize or rent first.
Redding's July high averages almost 100, hotter than Reno's 94, but its winters are milder. The Census shows few moves between Shasta and Washoe counties, with margins larger than the estimates, so the data say only that people move both ways.

How a long-distance move works with a Bekins agent
O'Brien's Moving & Storage has been an agent for Bekins Van Lines since 1955. On an interstate move the Bekins network carries your shipment under the van line's interstate system; O'Brien's books the move in either direction. Leaving Northern Nevada, we give the free in-home estimate, pack, store in our Sparks warehouse if you need it, and load. Moving here from another state, you book with us and we coordinate the move from your origin through the Bekins network, then handle delivery, unpacking and storage in Sparks. Your written estimate sets the delivery window. What being a Bekins agent means.
