Moving from Nevada to Wisconsin

Register on arrival, license within 60 days

WisDOT says you are required upon establishing residency in Wisconsin to title and register your vehicle here, with no number of days stated. For a driver license, WisDOT says you must apply after establishing residence: within 60 days for a regular license and within 30 days for a Commercial Driver License.

A wide income tax range

Nevada collects no state personal income tax. Wisconsin's marginal rates range from 3.5 percent to 7.65 percent, according to the Legislative Council's 2026 memo. A proposal for a 9.8 percent top bracket in the Governor's budget was not enacted, so the 7.65 percent figure is the top rate.

The state sales tax is 5 percent, and counties and some cities add more; Dane County adds 0.5 percent, and the City of Milwaukee adds 2 percent plus a county 0.9 percent. Nevada's statewide minimum is 6.85 percent.
