Moving from Milwaukee to Reno
Milwaukee to Reno is about 1,956 miles, 33 hours of driving, and 1,757 of those miles are on I-80. The planning figure is four driving days at 500 miles a day.
Milwaukee is at 710 feet and the Sparks warehouse is at 4,437. The map line is about 1,659 miles, and the road adds about 300. It is one of the shorter Midwestern routes into Reno.
A short hop to I-80, then 1,757 miles
The printed route uses I-43 for about 58 miles, I-39 for 42 miles and I-88 for 79 miles to get from Milwaukee to I-80, and then I-80 carries the trip for 1,757 miles. That is 90 percent of the total. The Wisconsin and northern Illinois links are quick, so the move behaves like an I-80 trip from the start.
Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah and Nevada each publish road conditions.

Four days and a winter on both ends
About 33 hours of driving translates to four days at 500 miles a day. A shipment goes on the carrier network's schedule, and your written estimate sets the delivery window.
Milwaukee averages 48.7 inches of snow a year, with a January high of 30.9 degrees and a low of 17.2. Reno averages 20.9 inches and a January high of 47.7. A winter load may leave in storm weather and arrive in a mild, dry week, so ask the estimator about timing. A spring or fall move keeps both ends easier.
How the move works with O'Brien's
You book with O'Brien's, the Bekins Van Lines agent in Sparks. We coordinate the move from your Milwaukee address through the Bekins network, then deliver, unpack and, if you need it, store your goods in our Sparks warehouse. Vault storage starts from $40 per month.
Get a price three ways: a phone ballpark, the online request or an in-home estimate. Estimates are itemized and in writing. The long-distance checklist lists what to do in the weeks before loading.

Median gross rent is $1,139 in Milwaukee and $1,592 in Reno. Reno is also sunnier and far drier, with 7.35 inches of precipitation a year against Milwaukee's 34.6.

How a long-distance move works with a Bekins agent
O'Brien's Moving & Storage has been an agent for Bekins Van Lines since 1955. On an interstate move the Bekins network carries your shipment under the van line's interstate system; O'Brien's books the move in either direction. Leaving Northern Nevada, we give the free in-home estimate, pack, store in our Sparks warehouse if you need it, and load. Moving here from another state, you book with us and we coordinate the move from your origin through the Bekins network, then handle delivery, unpacking and storage in Sparks. Your written estimate sets the delivery window. What being a Bekins agent means.

Extremely happy with the moving experience. The moving team showed up on time, friendly and polite. They did a wonderful job moving our boxes and furniture to the new location. We moved a three bedroom home and I could not be more pleased with the employees who assisted with the move. Highly recommend O'Brien moving for your move.

Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!!
