Data (read 2026-10-19): OSRM routing on OpenStreetMap data, free-flow drive from 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks; U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates; NOAA NCEI U.S. Climate Normals 1991-2020.

Boulder City is a small city of about 14,919 residents in Census ACS estimates, at 1,927 feet above sea level on the road to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Its median age is 53.5 and its median home value is $435,600, so a typical household here owns a house and brings a full set of belongings.

Getting there: US-95 and I-11

The routing data counts 464.3 miles and 570 minutes, about 9 h 30 min of driving. US-95 supplies about 281 miles and I-11 about 40 near the end, so the finish is on a freeway rather than a two-lane road.

Straight-line distance is about 368 miles. Because the route lists no mountain passes, snow is rarely a closure risk, but wind and heat are. Before travel, check the NDOT road conditions site, and think about the heat when the truck unloads: July highs at the nearest station, Las Vegas airport, average 104.5 degrees.

The Nevada authority behind the move

O'Brien's moves between Reno and Boulder City on Nevada Transportation Authority certificate CPCN 1070. The NTA approves the tariff that sets how an intrastate move is measured and billed, and the estimator applies that tariff to the inventory in your home. Your estimate is itemized and in writing.

For comparison, a move from Boulder City across the Colorado River into Arizona would be interstate, and federal authority (USDOT 30611, MC-109375) would apply. The USDOT number guide shows how to verify either kind of authority before you hire anyone.

What a Boulder City household brings

Census ACS lists a median household income of $74,757 and a median gross rent of $1,427, with 22.1 percent of households renting. A mostly owner-occupied city means full houses: garage contents, patio sets, outdoor equipment and sometimes a wine cellar or fine art and antiques. Each of those is easier to move when it is listed at the estimate, not discovered on moving day.

O'Brien's estimators, Sean, Luke, Christa and Janet, look through the garage and the closets as carefully as the living room. Photograph anything with sentimental or high value, and read the moving inventory guide before the visit.

Extremely happy with the moving experience. The moving team showed up on time, friendly and polite. They did a wonderful job moving our boxes and furniture to the new location. We moved a three bedroom home and I could not be more pleased with the employees who assisted with the move. Highly recommend O'Brien moving for your move.

Sonia P.

Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!!
