O'Brien's moves wine collections and the racks that hold them, from a few cases to a full cellar. Call 775-359-6683 for a free in-home estimate, and bring a count of your bottles.
A wine collection is two separate moves. One is the bottles, which need to be packed upright or on their sides in sturdy cartons and kept steady. The other is the cellar itself: the racks, shelves and cooling unit that hold the bottles and may be built in. Customers often think only of the first, and the estimator will ask about both.

Bottles first
A good move starts with a bottle count and an idea of value. Everyday wines go in standard wine cartons. Older or more valuable bottles can be wrapped individually and kept in smaller cartons that are easy to lift. Labels are kept clean and dry. Ask the estimator what protection fits the bottles you own.
Heat is the main risk
Wine is damaged more by temperature swings than by bumps. Northern Nevada has hot summer afternoons and freezing winter nights, so the timing of the move and the time bottles spend in a truck are worth talking over. The estimator can suggest the time of day and the order of loading. A large collection may be better moved on a cooler day or kept for the last stop of the load.
Any customer who owns a high-value collection may want to talk with a specialist wine carrier or storage provider about long holds. Ask the office if you are unsure whether your plan fits.
Racks, shelves and wine coolers
Wooden racks come apart and go back together. Built-in cellars need a plan for what stays with the house and what comes along. Freestanding wine coolers should be emptied, unplugged and left upright for the move, and many manufacturers advise waiting before plugging them in again; check your manual. List these items at the estimate.

Part of a larger move
Wine is usually one line in a bigger estimate. Packing is covered on the packing page, and heavy items such as appliances and pianos have their own notes. The full list lives on the specialty moving hub. Because O'Brien's prices long-distance moves by weight, a cellar adds real pounds, so mention it early on those moves.
Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!!
