How a PCS move to or from Fallon is booked

Military household goods moves are booked through the Defense Personal Property System, which you reach from Military OneSource, with help from your installation's Personal Property Office. You choose a government-arranged shipment or a Personally Procured Move, and a PPM needs a valid set of orders. Start there before you call any mover.

Where O'Brien's fits

O'Brien's is DOD approved to move and store military household goods. If your move is a PPM, or you need extra services the government move does not cover, you can hire us directly, and we can store goods in our Sparks warehouse. Call the office with your dates and we will talk it through; your transportation office remains the authority on what your orders cover.

The drive between Sparks and Fallon

The route runs east on I-80 and then on US 50 Alternate through Fernley, a flat high-desert drive at about 4,000 feet. Winter storms are less of a factor than on the Sierra passes, but summer heat matters for long loading days.

Living near Fallon

Families stationed at Fallon live in the city of Fallon and across Churchill County, and some commute from Fernley. See movers in Fallon and movers in Fernley.

Storage while you are between homes

Orders often leave a gap between leaving one home and moving into the next, or a deployment means part of a household needs to wait. Ask your transportation office first about storage your orders authorize. For storage you arrange yourself, our Sparks warehouse keeps household goods in wooden vaults, 7 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft, from $40 per month, and delivery back out is booked with about 2 to 3 weeks notice.

Before you call us

Having these ready makes the first call short. The office answers Monday to Friday, 8 to 5, at 775-359-6683.

  • Your report date and the date you can leave your current home
  • Whether your move is government-arranged or a PPM
  • The size of your household and any heavy or high-value items
  • Whether you need storage, and for how long
