Moving from Tulsa to Reno
Tulsa to Reno is about 1,725 miles and 28 h 54 min of driving, or four days at 500 miles a day. I-80 carries 902 miles, and I-70, I-135 and I-35 carry most of the rest.
Tulsa is at 725 feet and the Sparks warehouse is at 4,437. The map line is about 1,320 miles, so the road adds more than 400, because it runs north through Kansas before it turns west. That northern bend is what makes Tulsa a four-road trip.
I-35 north, I-135 through Kansas, then I-70 and I-80
The named roads are I-80 for about 902 miles, I-70 for 411, I-135 for 95 and I-35 for 83. They add up to 1,491 of the 1,725 miles; shorter links make up the remaining 234. I-80 carries 52 percent of the trip, which is lower than on most routes from the Midwest because the first half is spent getting north and west.
A trip assembled from four roads has four sets of conditions. Each state publishes a 511 page, and NDOT covers the Nevada end.

Four driving days
Wheel time is about 28 h 54 min, which the planning rule rounds to four days at 500 miles a day. A shipment moves on the carrier network's schedule, and the delivery window in your written estimate is the date to plan around.
Tulsa's July high is 93.6 degrees and Reno's is 93.9, nearly the same, but Tulsa gets 41 inches of precipitation a year and Reno gets 7.35. Tulsa's January high is 48.9 and Reno's is 47.7. The biggest weather change is not temperature; it is rain, and with it the humidity inside your house.
How the move works with O'Brien's
You book with O'Brien's, the Bekins Van Lines agent in Sparks. We coordinate the move from your Tulsa address through the Bekins network, then handle delivery, unpacking and storage in the Reno area. If your new home is not ready, the shipment can wait in our 30,000 square foot warehouse; vault storage starts from $40 per month.

Tulsa and Reno compared
The Tulsa metro has about 1.04 million people, a Census median household income of $69,359 and a median home value of $221,700. The Reno metro's median household income is $87,485 and its median home value is $502,300, more than double. Median gross rent is $1,078 in Tulsa and $1,592 in Reno.
County flow data from the 2016-2020 Census shows about 109 people a year moving from Washoe County to Tulsa and Wagoner counties, while the flow in the other direction is too small to measure. For the state picture, see moving to Reno from Oklahoma.
How a long-distance move works with a Bekins agent
O'Brien's Moving & Storage has been an agent for Bekins Van Lines since 1955. On an interstate move the Bekins network carries your shipment under the van line's interstate system; O'Brien's books the move in either direction. Leaving Northern Nevada, we give the free in-home estimate, pack, store in our Sparks warehouse if you need it, and load. Moving here from another state, you book with us and we coordinate the move from your origin through the Bekins network, then handle delivery, unpacking and storage in Sparks. Your written estimate sets the delivery window. What being a Bekins agent means.

Why does the route go north through Kansas?
The printed route runs I-35 and I-135 north before it joins I-70 and then I-80, which is why the road distance is more than 400 miles longer than the straight line.
Who delivers in Reno?
O'Brien's. The Bekins network brings the shipment and our Sparks crews deliver and unpack.
I was so impressed with the way the crew handled and packed each piece of furniture for short term storage. They were polite and professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone planning a move.

We were referred to O'Brien's Moving and Storage though a friend in Reno. We couldn't be more pleased with the Professionalism and Service. They were quick to set up Luke to come out and give us a quote and scheduled the actual move date right away. Luke was on time for our quote as were the movers on our moving day. All three of the gentlemen who moved us were professional and courteous from start to finish. From the initial phone call to the completion of our move, we felt like we were treated as family. We would definitely use them again and recommend O'Brien's Moving and Storage to our friends in the future.
