Spokane to Reno is about 785 miles, a 14 h 12 min free-flow drive over US 395, I-84, US 95 and I-80 that does not touch the Cascades or the Sierra. Spokane is a city of 230,293 at 1,906 feet, with about 45 inches of snow in a normal year.
Census counts put the flow from Spokane and Stevens counties to Washoe County at about 54 people a year (2016-2020), against about 29 going the other way. Washington as a whole sent about 4,887 people to Nevada in 2024. Spokane is on the east side of Washington state.
The drive: US 395, I-84, US 95 and I-80
The route runs on four highways and no mountain pass. US 395 carries the truck about 154 miles out of the Spokane area, I-84 then covers about 191 miles across eastern Oregon, and US 95 runs about 251 miles south through the Idaho and Oregon high desert into Nevada. At Winnemucca the truck joins I-80 for the last 162 miles to Sparks. The total is about 785 miles.
At 500 miles a day, that is two days behind the wheel and an overnight stop on the road, with a free-flow time of 14 h 12 min. The wide-open sections of US 95 have long gaps between services, so drivers plan fuel and rest around the I-84 corridor and Winnemucca.
The usual weather risk is winter ice and snow on the high-desert highways rather than a summit closure. Washington DOT covers the Spokane end, the Idaho 511 and Oregon TripCheck sites cover the middle, and the Nevada 511 site covers the last miles. Your written estimate sets the delivery window, not the map.
Because the route comes in from the northeast on I-80, it avoids the Donner Summit chain controls that apply to moves from the Bay Area and Sacramento.

Spokane and Reno side by side
Spokane averages about 45.4 inches of snow a year, against about 20.9 at the Reno airport. The January average high is 34.5 F in Spokane and 47.7 F in Reno, so winter is milder in Reno. July highs are 84.4 F and 93.9 F.
The table above uses Census figures for the Spokane-Spokane Valley metro area, with median gross rent of $1,264, a median home value of $405,300, and 34.3 percent of households renting. Reno-Sparks has a median gross rent of $1,592 and a median home value of $502,300. Neither Washington nor Nevada taxes wages.

You book the move with O'Brien's, the Bekins Van Lines agent in Sparks, and we coordinate it from your Spokane home through the Bekins network. How a long-distance move works with a Bekins agent
O'Brien's Moving & Storage has been an agent for Bekins Van Lines since 1955. On an interstate move the Bekins network carries your shipment under the van line's interstate system; O'Brien's books the move in either direction. Leaving Northern Nevada, we give the free in-home estimate, pack, store in our Sparks warehouse if you need it, and load. Moving here from another state, you book with us and we coordinate the move from your origin through the Bekins network, then handle delivery, unpacking and storage in Sparks. Your written estimate sets the delivery window. What being a Bekins agent means.

We were referred to O'Brien's Moving and Storage though a friend in Reno. We couldn't be more pleased with the Professionalism and Service. They were quick to set up Luke to come out and give us a quote and scheduled the actual move date right away. Luke was on time for our quote as were the movers on our moving day. All three of the gentlemen who moved us were professional and courteous from start to finish. From the initial phone call to the completion of our move, we felt like we were treated as family. We would definitely use them again and recommend O'Brien's Moving and Storage to our friends in the future.
