Plates through the county treasurer
WYDOT says standard plates and registrations are obtained through the local county treasurer in the county seat of the county of residence. No new-resident day count for registration appears on the pages, so ask your county treasurer what is required and when.
Bring the Nevada title, registration and proof of address, and call the treasurer's office first to confirm what it needs. Wyoming counties are large and the county seat can be a long drive, so a phone call saves a trip.
One year for the license
WYDOT states you have one year from the time you establish residency to be issued a Wyoming driver license. The same page says holders of licenses from certain states and commercial license holders must apply sooner once residency is established; commercial license holders have 30 days by statute.
A long window does not change insurance or voter registration, which follow your address.
Taxes
Wyoming has no personal income tax: a presentation to the Legislature in June 2025 lists individual income tax at 0 percent and $0 collected in fiscal year 2024. Nevada has none either.
The statewide sales and use tax is 4 percent under Wyoming Statute 39-15-104, and counties may add local option taxes. Nevada's statewide minimum is 6.85 percent.
