The state's new-to-Oregon page says new residents must register their vehicles within 30 days of establishing Oregon residency and must replace an out-of-state driver license within the same 30 days. Neither deadline waits for a convenient appointment, so book your DMV visit before the move, not after.
Bring the title or registration from Nevada and proof of your new address. Oregon also has a vehicle use tax on new vehicles bought out of state, so a car purchased shortly before you leave Nevada is worth a question to Oregon DMV.
Oregon's top personal income tax rate is 9.9 percent, according to the Department of Revenue's 2026 withholding formulas. The 2026 single-filer income tax brackets run 4.75, 6.75, 8.75 and 9.9 percent, and the top bracket applies to taxable income above $125,000. Nevada collects no state personal income tax, so even a mid-range paycheck sees a change.
Oregon has no general sales or use tax, which stands in contrast with Nevada's 6.85 percent statewide minimum. Large purchases such as furniture for the new place can cost less at the register in Oregon, and the Department of Revenue explains where exceptions sit.
