The truck has traveled the miles, but the delivery still takes a local crew who knows the streets, the buildings and the warehouse. That local company is the destination agent, and for moves into Reno and Sparks it can be O'Brien's.
What happens at the far end
The inventory check at delivery is a federal right under 49 CFR 375.503(d).
- The agent contacts you to confirm the delivery window and the access at the new address.
- The crew unloads, and you check each numbered item against the inventory.
- You note any missing or damaged articles in writing and receive a copy of the notes.
- The crew unpacks and places furniture if that service was ordered.
- You sign the bill of lading at destination.

Delivery windows
Delivery happens on the agreed date or within the period shown on the bill of lading, and when the mover cannot meet it, the mover must notify you of the delay and give a new date or period under 49 CFR 375.605. Your delivery window comes from your written estimate.
Be reachable throughout the window. If you cannot take delivery, the mover can place the shipment in storage at your expense.
Storage at the destination
If the new home is not ready, the destination agent often has a warehouse where the shipment can wait, which connects to storage in transit. The 10-day expiry notice and the 9-month claim period in 49 CFR 375.609 apply while goods are held.
Ask early whether the agent can store goods near the new address and for how long.
Moving into Northern Nevada with O'Brien's
When you book a move from another state with O'Brien's, the office coordinates the move from the origin through the Bekins network, then handles delivery, unpacking and storage in Sparks. The Sparks site has a 30,000 sq ft warehouse, and vault storage starts from $40 per month.
For a delivery in Reno, Sparks, Carson City or the Tahoe area, call the office at 775-359-6683 to talk through access and parking.
