Packing is where most households save time or lose it. These answers describe the three levels of packing service, what the free boxes are for and how to buy more at the Sparks counter.

Packing levels

Does O'Brien's pack for me?

Yes. Packing is offered as full packing, partial packing or box packing only, and your estimator writes the choice into the estimate.

Can I pack some things myself?

Yes. Many households pack books and clothing themselves and ask the crew for the kitchen, the glassware and the fragile pieces. Partial packing is built for that mix.

What is box packing only?

Box packing only means the crew packs your belongings into boxes, using cartons you have on hand or buy at the Sparks office. It suits a household that wants help with the boxes and nothing more.

Does custom crating come under packing?

Custom crating is a packing service for art, glass, antiques and machinery that need a built-to-fit crate. Details are on the custom crating page.

Free boxes and supplies

Do I really get free boxes?

Yes. The free in-home estimate comes with 10 free heavy-duty boxes, yours to keep with no obligation to book.

Where can I buy more boxes and tape?

Boxes and supplies are sold at the O'Brien's office, 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks, during office hours. The supplies page lists what the counter carries.

How many boxes will a house need?

The number depends on the size of the home and how much you keep. The packing calculator turns bedrooms and rooms into a carton range you can compare with your estimator's view.

Packing before moving day

How early should I start packing?

Start with the rooms you use least, and keep a first-night box for the last day. The packing guide gives the order room by room.

Should I label the boxes?

Yes. Write the room and a short list on two sides of every box, because labels let the crew set cartons where you want them at the new address.

What customers say about O'Brien's

Nicole B.

The crew worked extremely hard and treated our belongings with care. Customer service was outstanding leading up to, during, and after move. Thank you!

Sonia P.

Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!!

Robert B.

The movers were very professional and took care of my stuff there were no worries and stress free amazing job.
