About 87 Yerington residents, 2.8 percent, moved in from another state in the past year, in a town of about 3,150 people with a median age of 51.4. O'Brien's plans the estimate, packing and loading for a Yerington move out of state, and the Bekins network carries it.
Yerington is the Lyon County seat and one of the farther Lyon County towns from our Sparks yard: about 74 miles, a drive of close to two hours. It has 1,333 households and a small number of newcomers, so a long-distance move from Yerington is an event that deserves an early call. The first step is simply to get the estimate on the calendar.

A small town with a settled population
Only 9.2 percent of Yerington residents moved in the past year, one of the lowest rates in the service area, and about 72 percent of homes are owner occupied. Households here stay a long time. When they go, the house has years in it: heirloom furniture, a full garage, and sometimes equipment for a ranch or a hobby.
The 87 residents who arrived from another state, and the 13 who came from abroad, are a small group. That makes the average Yerington long-distance job a longtime household leaving, not a newcomer retracing a route.
Planning around the distance
The estimator travels from Sparks via US 95A and I-80, so the in-home visit is booked as a block of the day. Tell the office your preferred weekday when you call 775-359-6683. The visit is free, with no obligation, and comes with 10 free heavy-duty boxes.
Long-distance moves are priced by weight. The itemized estimate lists what goes on the truck and is in writing, so the figure on moving day matches the figure you approved. Our guide to binding and non-binding estimates explains the terms.
What to sort before the visit
Furniture you plan to leave, sell or give to family
Outbuilding contents, since sheds and barns count toward weight
Valuables, firearms and papers that travel with you
Anything that needs custom crating, such as glass or art

Storage and arrivals
If your closing and your new address do not line up, the load can wait in wooden vaults, 7 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft, at the Sparks warehouse, from $40 per month. For a move to Yerington, you book with O'Brien's and we coordinate it from your origin through the Bekins network. See Lyon County service details.
The two employees showed up on time and were very polite and ready to work. Our quote was 8 hours and they finished in 5 hours. Office staff checked in prior to move and confirmed all details and check in after move to make sure everything was taken care of. Would use this company again for sure!
