Long-distance moving from Susanville

Susanville is the Lassen County seat, about 88 miles and a drive of close to two hours north of Sparks on US 395. Its Census turnover figure, 20 percent of about 14,200 residents in a single year, is among the highest of the towns we serve. Roughly 1,668 residents moved in from another county in California and 265 from other states, so Susanville moves in many directions.

A town in constant motion

Turnover this high means plenty of households have moved before and understand the process. It also means many are renters (46.1 percent), with a median home built in 1975 and 4.7 rooms. A move out of Susanville is as likely to be a two-bedroom rental as a family house, and the estimate is sized to the actual load.

The median age of 36.8 is young for a county seat.
